Showers and thunderstorms during the holiday weekend

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) –First alarm weather day The oppressive heat and humidity will continue until early evening, with heavy thunderstorms possible on Saturday.

UNTIL THE MORNING:

Very hot and humid weather will continue into the early evening. A First Alert Weather Day remains in effect for the oppressive heat and humidity. The heat index will exceed 100° in many communities.

Clusters of showers and thunderstorms will continue to develop into the early evening hours. Be on the lookout for heavy downpours, frequent lightning, and dime-sized hail. Localized flooding is also possible as storms will drift very slowly and linger in the same areas for a while.

Storms will taper off as high school football games begin. Staying very humid. Low, 74.

LABOR DAY WEEKEND:

Saturday is a First warning weather day for the possibility of a few strong to severe storms, which could potentially produce damaging wind gusts. The most likely time for the strongest storms is between 13:00 and 19:00.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected both Saturday and Sunday. Storms will develop by mid-morning. Highs on Saturday will be in the low 90s with plenty of humidity. With more clouds in the area on Sunday compared to Saturday, highs on Sunday will be in the 80s for a change.

Monday/Labor Day looks drier and less humid. Chance of rain, 20%. Overall, Monday looks like a great day for outdoor fun at the pool or lake. High, 90°.

TUESDAY AND BEYOND:

More moderate temperatures are on the way for next week. Expect highs of 80 on most days. Humidity will remain moderate.

From Wednesday to Friday there may be some showers.
