The PGA Tour delayed the start of Friday’s second round at the Shriners Children’s Open by four hours because of high winds in Las Vegas.

The start was originally delayed by two hours and the practice facilities were closed due to 40-50 mph wind gusts at TPC Summerlin. An additional two-hour delay pushed the scheduled start time to 1:55 PM ET

“Friday morning’s delay at the Shriners Children’s Open is due to the extremely high winds we are experiencing in Las Vegas,” chief referee Stephen Cox said in a statement. “For the safety of operations staff, tournament volunteers, spectators and our athletes and caddies, we have extended the postponement while we continue to monitor the situation.”

Canada’s Taylor Pendrith fired a 10-under-par 61 to take the lead after Thursday’s opening round.

When play was suspended due to darkness, 10 players were in second place at 7-under 64. Eight players had yet to complete their rounds, including Joe Highsmith, who was 6 under through 17 holes and will have a 24-foot putt for Eagle. on his final hole, the par-5 ninth.
