Riley Leonard is the story of Notre Dame’s offense this season. Whether you think that’s a good thing is up to you. It’s reality anyway.

On the opening drive of the Irish’s game against Navy, Leonard led a solid drive in just over four and a half minutes. This included a 42-yard completion to Jaden Greathouse that put the Irish in the red zone. Shortly thereafter, Leonard ran the ball into the end zone from the 1-yard line to give the Irish an early 7-0 lead.

Leonard then got another chance to put points on the board when Midshipmen running back Alex Tecza fumbled the ball, and Adon Shuler scooped it up for a nice return on the recovery. He accomplished this by hitting Kris Mitchell for a six-yard touchdown, extending the Irish’s lead to 14–0.

Here are some of the best reactions to this early happiness on social media:

Josephy Rymasz

Yeah, how did he get that open?

Alex Busch

Some techniques just take time to develop.

Catlin Bogard

Sometimes this also confuses us.

Mike McGuire

Sinking? Are we playing Battleship?

One foot down

Hey, better late than never.
