Sources — Oklahoma fires OC Seth Littrell, tabs Joe Jon Finley

The Oklahoma Sooners have fired offensive coordinator Seth Littrell, sources confirmed to ESPN on Sunday amid multiple media reports.

Oklahoma is moving on from its first-year play-caller, a day after its offense sputtered again Saturday afternoon in a 35-9 home loss to South Carolina.

Co-offensive coordinator Joe Jon Finley will take over play-calling duties, while analyst Kevin Johns, the former Duke offensive coordinator, has been promoted to the role of quarterbacks coach, sources confirmed to ESPN.

Ball security came into play when Oklahoma benched quarterback Jackson Arnold in favor of freshman Michael Hawkins Jr. in Week 4. The Sooners returned to Arnold on Saturday after Hawkins committed three turnovers in the first quarter, and Arnold remained under center for the rest of Oklahoma’s team. largest housing loss since 2016.

Including the 34-3 loss to Texas on Oct. 12, it is the first time since 1998 that Oklahoma has been held to under 10 points in consecutive games.
