Storms move across parts of New Mexico

Clouds moved into New Mexico today under relatively calm conditions. The temperature rose to near average this afternoon. Showers and storms will move across southeastern and eastern New Mexico during the overnight hours. Heavy rain, strong winds and hail are expected with the threat of flooding for parts of Cury, Roosevelt, Chaves, Eddy and Lea counties. These storms will continue through the day on Saturday.

Temperatures will continue to rise through the first half of the weekend as moist air lingers to the east, creating a wetter and wintry storm system that will arrive late this weekend and early next week with a stronger upper level low pressure system eventually moving in from the approaching northwest.
