Student Loan: NELFUND to Get Additional N50 Billion from EFCC

Nigeria’s Education Loan Fund, NELFUND, reported that it has received another N50 billion from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to boost its efforts to provide financial assistance to students across the country.

The money, which is part of the proceeds of crime recovered by the country’s anti-corruption agency, was released to the student loan agency following a directive to that effect from President Bola Tinubu.

This was contained in a statement by the Director Corporate Communications of NELFUND, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, on Friday in Abuja.

She said the cash injection will significantly increase the agency’s ability to provide much-needed financial support to students, allowing them to pursue their academic ambitions without financial barriers.

According to the statement, the management of NELFUND, led by Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, expressed delight at the receipt of an additional N50 billion from the EFCC.

According to the report, the significant financial injection is a milestone in the government’s commitment to improving access to education by providing financial support to students across Nigeria.

The statement further said that NELFUND expresses its deepest gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his tireless dedication to the education sector and his continuous efforts to support the most vulnerable sections of the population.

“By deciding to allocate these funds to the student loan programme, President Tinubu has once again demonstrated his visionary leadership and commitment to promoting a better future for Nigerian students and to the socio-economic progress of Nigeria.

“NELFUND also wishes to acknowledge and thank the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), led by its Executive Chairman, Ola Olukayode, for their swift action in ensuring the release of the funds,” the statement said.
