Summer temperatures will drop in central Pa. Will trick-or-treating be cold?

The leaves are turning into fall colors, but otherwise it doesn’t really feel like fall in central Pennsylvania. It has been around 80 degrees during the day all week.

That will change on Thursday this week, when the high temperature in the Harrisburg area will reach just 62 degrees. Thursday night’s low should drop into the 30s.

It won’t be winter-like anytime soon: Temperatures for the next week or so will simply be seasonal, according to the National Weather Service: daytime highs in the 50s-60s and nighttime lows in the 30s-40s.

Halloween is next week, and many places are hosting trick-or-treating on Thursday evenings.

That’s a bit of a stretch to say for sure what the weather will be like, but Accuweather has made an effort: the forecast for October 31 is a high of 70, a low of 51, with a 25% chance of rain in the Harrisburg area. The Weather Channel predicts an even warmer Halloween, with a high of 75 and a low of 54.

Stay informed.

Here is the forecast for the next few days in central Pennsylvania:

  • Wednesday: Sunny, high 79, low 52
  • Thursday: Sunny, high 62, low 38
  • Friday: Mostly sunny, high 66, low 51
