‘Take Me Out To The Ballgame’ sung at Wrigley

Ohio State and Northwestern were treated to a baseball truce while playing at Wrigley Field.

With the Buckeyes leading 31-7 after three quarters on Saturday afternoon, former Northwestern and Chicago Bears football player Corey Wootton took the microphone to borrow a tradition. When the Chicago Cubs play their home baseball games here, the entire stadium usually sings the classic “Take Me Out To The Ballgame” with a guest at the microphone.

Between the third and fourth quarters, Wooten led the football crowd in singing along with a slight change. Instead of “Root, root root for the home team”, which replaces “home team” with “Cubbies” for Cubs baseball games, Wootton sang “Cats” instead.

Reporters at the game posted that the mostly red-clad crowd of Ohio State fans instead chanted “Root, root root for the road team.”

Ohio State leads 31-7 in the fourth quarter.
