The fire occurred on the morning of Tuesday, Oct. 29, when a fire broke out in a building housing the Tarry Tavern at 27 Main St. in Tarrytown, according to village officials.

The fire was ultimately extinguished without injuries thanks to the efforts of the Tarrytown Fire Department and several other area agencies, officials said.

According to the village, the entire building sustained “significant damage” but the fire was prevented from spreading to surrounding buildings.

Main Street is now closed between Kaldenberg Place and Washington Street.

Officials have not disclosed the cause of the fire.
