Witnesses told Columbus police that an argument led to the fatal shooting of an unarmed teenage boy early Wednesday in North Linden.

Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of East Weber Road around 12:03 a.m. after a 911 caller told police someone had been shot. Joe Albert said in a statement. They arrived to find a man in his mid to late teens on the sidewalk with at least one gunshot wound.

Paramedics took the teen in critical condition to Riverside Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:35 p.m.

Columbus police are working to identify the boy whose identity was not known at 6:30 a.m

Several witnesses were at the scene and told investigators the teen was involved in an altercation with three other men when he was shot, Albert said.

Police have not released any further details about possible suspects or arrests.
