COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – The Aggies took Kyle Field in all-black alternate uniforms as part of a larger power outage throughout Kyle Field.

Since joining the SEC, A&M is 7-4 in games where they wore a non-traditional uniform.

Saturday’s game marked the first time A&M has worn an alternate uniform since the Aggies won Kentucky in 2018, when they wore a throwback uniform from the 1998 season that resembles A&M’s current uniform. The last real alternative was a jersey with maroon geometric patterns on the shoulders with silver reflective numbers that A&M wore during its loss to Mississippi State in 2017.

Saturday will mark the third time the Aggies have worn an alternate uniform against the Tigers and the second time they have worn an all-black uniform. The first occurrence was a loss to the Tigers in 2015.

The last time A&M didn’t have the ATM logo on their helmet was during a win over South Carolina in 2016, when the Aggies wore a throwback uniform from the 1950s with a plain white helmet.

Availability update

A&M left guard Chase Bisontis will be out for Saturday’s game, as first reported in Wednesday’s availability report and confirmed by Saturday’s game day roster.

The sophomore left Saturday’s game at Mississippi State with an apparent leg injury and did not return to the game. Freshman TJ Shanahan took over at left guard for most of the rest of the game.

Bisontis has played all 411 snaps at left guard this season after spending most of his freshman year in Aggieland at the right side of the line. According to Pro Football Focus, he has allowed one sack and nine quarterback hurries this season, which tops the Aggies’ improved offensive line.

LSU wide receiver CJ Daniels is listed as a game-time decision. Daniels has amassed 325 receiving yards on 27 catches in six games this season.

Breaking the trend

Throughout this season, A&M has repeatedly exorcised demons that have plagued the program in recent history.

On Saturday, the Aggies will have to break a new trend if they want to leave Kyle Field with a win.

LSU and A&M first faced each other in 1914 and played 57 times. Eight of those games occurred when both teams were ranked, with LSU having a perfect record in those games.

The first ranked vs. ranked matchup between the two programs was in 1968, when the No. 20 Tigers defeated No. 13 A&M 13-12. The last fully ranked matchup was in 2016, when No. 25 LSU defeated No. 22 A&M 54-39.

The last time the schools met in a lower-ranked game than Saturday was in 1987, when No. 6 LSU defeated No. 15 A&M 17-3.

This season, the Aggies were already on a real road losing streak that dated back to the 2021 season with a win at Florida. A&M also earned its third all-time win at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville, MS. last Saturday.
