Thanksgiving Storm – Boston News, Weather, Sports

Today’s rain falls outside, leaving a wet road surface for commuters and anyone traveling during this busy holiday week. Wet pavement and volume is not a good mix, luckily we are drying things out and have a much better day for commuters tomorrow. However, tomorrow will be a colder day with temperatures around 40 degrees and a light breeze, but at least we will be dry.

Thursday (Thanksgiving) is a different story with another, larger storm moving in to the Northeast. It will be a cold rain for most of us in southern New England, but we will feel the effects of our trip on Thursday no matter where you travel, and some destinations are worse than others. Locally temperatures will be in the low 40s with a cold rain for most of us, but we will see a mix of rain and snow in the higher ground.

It’s not just New England, this storm will bring wet weather to several major airports on Thanksgiving, from Boston to New York, Philadelphia and Washington DC

Driving into northern New England will be the problem this year as our cold rain there is an accumulating snow. In the Worcester Hills you might end up with a muddy layer or so, but northern New England is several inches in line. That could be a situation to leave on Wednesday evening if you have some travel flexibility.

Behind this storm is a wave of cold air. The coldest of the season. Highs for the weekend and early next week will struggle to reach 40°. Fortunately, the cold air mass is a dry air mass, so there are no other storms for travelers to worry about once we get past Thanksgiving.
