Louisville is under a freeze advisory between 2 a.m. and 9 a.m. Wednesday, with temperatures dipping into the low 30s in the evening, according to Louisville’s National Weather Service.

“Temperatures in the low to mid 30s will result in frost formation,” the NWS of Louisville said. “Frost can damage sensitive outdoor plants. Sensitive outdoor plants can be killed if left uncovered.”

The temperature change did not go unnoticed, with some people celebrating the autumn weather and others pointing out the rapid change in the forecast.

Will it freeze in Louisville tonight?

Freezing temperatures are 32 degrees and below, according to NOAA’s National Weather Service glossary.

Although it may feel like it to some, the expected temperature for the evening of Tuesday into Wednesday is not that freezing. The NWS forecast calls for temperatures to be around 36 degrees in the evening.

Here is Louisville’s forecast for the rest of the week:

30% chance of showers, especially between noon and 3 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 56 degrees. Wind from the northwest 5 to 10 km/h, with gusts up to 30 km/h.

Tuesday evening

Some frost after 5am. Furthermore, mainly cloudy, then gradually clear, with a minimum temperature around 36 degrees. Wind from the north around 6 km/h.

Wednesday

Patchy frost before 9am. Otherwise sunny, with a high of almost 57 degrees. North wind 3 to 7 km/hour.

Wednesday evening

Mostly clear, with a minimum temperature around 36 degrees. Light and variable wind.

Thursday

Patchy frost before 9am. Otherwise sunny, with a high near 62 degrees. Calm wind.

Thursday evening

Clear, with a minimum temperature around 38 degrees.

Friday

Sunny, with a high near 67 degrees.

Friday evening

Clear, with a low around 41 degrees.
