LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – As of 5 p.m., a cold front headed toward our area was stationed south of the Camarillo area.

Consequences of the front

Wind gusts reported behind the front have increased to 55 km per hour, so windy conditions are expected after its passage.

This front will also give way to high pressure and a cooler air mass as a result of the front.

Temperatures during the night

Tonight will be cold as temperatures drop into the 60s with a fresh east-northeast wind by 9 p.m. Clear skies, a cooler air mass and slowly decreasing winds at night provide sufficient conditions for traditional cooling.

This combination creates cold temperatures, with temperatures above 30 and below 40 degrees throughout the area. In some areas, temperatures can also get close to freezing. It will still be quite chilly as north-easterly winds dominate around 25 km/h.

Wednesday in general

A cold start to the morning and lingering cool air will give way to a fairly cool afternoon. Highs are not forecast to leave the 60s as Wednesday is expected to be the coldest of the next seven days.

Southeasterly winds Wednesday afternoon will warm temperatures back into the 70s Wednesday afternoon.
