The cold spell of Thanksgiving begins with Tuesday showers that drop temperatures

Residents will wake up to a very different day on Tuesday after the cold front moves through. With many people waking up to the rain, it is expected to get even colder over the weekend!

Monday’s high temperatures were in the 50s – perhaps the last 50 degree day we’ll see in metro Detroit for a while as cold air moves in.

Skies will be cloudy early this morning, which should give way to partly cloudy skies, and yes, some sunshine later this morning in the afternoon.

High temperatures will be around 41 degrees, but strong west-northwest winds of 15 to 25 miles per hour will make it feel colder. Due to the expected feeling temperature, we will remain around thirty degrees all day.

Tonight, low temperatures will drop to freezing as the wind dies down.

A weather system late overnight Wednesday through Thursday will bring showers and possibly a wintry mix.

High temperatures will remain consistent Wednesday and Thursday in the low 40s, but we could see some showers and perhaps snowflakes early on Thanksgiving.

Keep this in mind if you’re heading downtown for The Turkey Trot, the Thanksgiving Day Parade, or even to visit the Lions. It may be wet early, but it stays fresh all morning!

Colder temperatures arrive on Friday and into the weekend, with high temperatures struggling to even reach the freezing mark of 32 degrees. Bundle up!
