CROW AGENCY – Unofficial results showed Monday that the current Crow tribe executive, led by Chairman Frank Whiteclay, will remain in office. The list of four ran together in the 2024 election, with the campaign platform focusing on consistency and economics.

The unofficial results were scheduled to be certified on Monday at 5 p.m

Of more than 14,000 registered Crow Tribal members, 3,364 voted in the tribe’s executive branch election on Saturday. The election process is very different from U.S. federal or state elections.

All ballots were returned in person Saturday at the tribe’s multicenter, with only non-tribal members and people 18 and older allowed inside.

There are no satellite polling places on the Crow Reservation, making the trip to Crow Agency a must for everyone except the 89 people who voted absentee before the September deadline.

With poverty in virtually every direction you turn on the reservation, economic development seems the most pressing issue, and voters have given their confidence to the Whiteclay slate.

On Election Day, transportation in this two-million-acre reservation took center stage, with even the candidates themselves driving as far away as Pryor to help pick up voters.

Another notable difference from the federal election is that when Montana’s tribal voters go to the polls this election season, there was no red or blue ticket on the tribal ballot, but rather one people, and whether Crow or Northern Cheyenne, the voters choose the top. candidates to make the reservations this election season.

“It’s more of a unifying thing where we get together and eat and get our platform out there,” said Wacey Real Bird, Crow Tribal vice chairman candidate.
