The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Central Oregon Cascades.

Further south, a Winter Storm Warning has been issued for the Cascades in Lane County, including Waldo Lake and Willamette Pass.

Storm Tracker 2 Meteorologist Dave Salesky says this is the first real taste of winter. “We are looking at significant snowfall above 4,000 feet, which is likely to impact traffic. Road conditions could be very slippery on Wednesday afternoon.”

Snow amounts around 4,000 feet could total 6 to 12 inches, with 3 to 6 inches above 5,000 feet, NWS said in its advisory.

“Here locally in the Willamette Valley, we are talking about three-quarters to an inch of rain over the next 48 hours,” Salesky added.

In the Cascades of Lane County, snow amounts are forecast from 6 to 12 inches above 4,000 feet and 12 to 24 inches above 5,000 feet.
