Nick Bosa showed off a MAGA hat during a postgame interview with NBC Sports two weeks ago, and it turns out it’s going to cost him quite a chunk of change.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Bosa has been fined $11,255 for violating the league’s uniform policy. That’s reportedly the most he can get for a first offense. For a second offense, he could be fined as much as $16,883.

The San Francisco defensive end was asked about the threat of a fine earlier this week, and he said he expected it to come.

“It was definitely worth it” Bosa said. “I don’t think my position on speaking about it will change. Clearly the nation has spoken and we got what we got.”

The 27-year-old star stepped behind quarterback Brock Purdy, who was interviewed after the 49ers’ 30-24 win over the Dallas Cowboys on Oct. 27, and pointed to a Maga hat he was wearing.

According to USA Today, the NFL rules state that players are not permitted to “wear, display, or otherwise transmit messages… relating to political activities or causes, other non-football related events, causes, or campaigns, or charities or campaigns.”

Bosa should be able to pay the fine easily. Last season, he signed a five-year, $170 million contract extension with San Francisco.
