Genoa, Nev. – If you’ve noticed more motorcycles on the road than usual, it’s because Street Vibrations is bringing about 35,000 bikers to Reno this weekend. I watched a car drive onto Highway 395 Thursday afternoon and almost hit a motorcyclist. Keep an eye on the riders.

Between Street Vibrations and Candy Dance vendors both happening today, Nevada’s oldest settlement may be its busiest. Unless you have business in Genoa, or need to use Foothill to Jacks Valley Road, I would suggest an alternate route.

While Candy Dance is the main thing happening this weekend, it’s not the only thing. The first Bear Fest will be at Spooner Lake Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Markleeville will host an arts festival at the library from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Historian David and Gayle Woodruff will be at the Minden Mill Distillery on Sunday, just a few blocks from where Mary Pickford was divorced in Minden in 1920 so she could marry Douglas Fairbanks.

The couple plays Reno Divorce Ranch characters of Clive and Vivian Sterling to tell the history of the Reno divorce industry in the 1930s and 1960s. https://www.exploretock.com/minden-mill-distillery/event/505365/the-reno-cure-a-living-history-presentation or call Woodruff at 760-920-8061 for more information.

Speaking of Minden and the traffic, the people who work on the 10e The sidewalk spilled over the new curb Thursday, blocking the driveway in front of The Record-Courier for most of the day. If you use the alley from Lucerne to 10eyou may find yourself in a cone situation.

The forecast high temperature for Saturday has deviated from the predicted 90 degrees. Now it will just be 89 degrees, with Tuesday 90 degrees. We may see fall weather late next week, but maybe not.

For today, highs are forecast to reach 87 degrees this afternoon under sunny skies with calm winds from the north at 5 miles per hour.
