The Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball team has been having a lot of fun lately. It was amazing to see considering how much attention John Cook’s side focused on some of the ugly things that had happened in the months leading up to the season. during winter, spring and summer.

It’s even more fun to watch because after an up-and-down start to the 2024 campaign, it looked like things might be in trouble after a big loss for SMU. But since that loss, and after a rather impressively angry tirade from head coach John Cook, things have improved both on and off the field, it seems.

On the field, the Huskers have been on a tear and that’s what happened beat some of the best teams in the country. Off the field, Cook has been having a little social media fun with Harper Murray and her teammates. That included what had been long promised reveal on Tik Tok about how Cook got the black eye.

In a demonstration of how fun things seem to be in Lincoln these days, Cook and Murray appeared in the new video.

“Okay,” Murray started. “So like a week ago during practice, me and the coach got into an argument because… why did we get into an argument?” She asked Cook.

“Because Harper was a brat,” the Huskers head coach responded.

“Why?” Harper said, smiling.

“She didn’t listen,” her coach replied. “But then Merritt came in to defend her. Before you know it, there’s pushing and shoving and I’m being decked out.

Then came the punchline, as well as the real reason why the black eye happened.

“Okay, and then I kicked his knee and now he has a knee brace. His knee is all swollen,” Murray explained before finally addressing the truth.

“You can tell them what really happened. We didn’t get into a fight. I didn’t hit him. I didn’t kick his knee.”

“I’m just kidding,” Cook added. “I’m going to say one thing. It’s not easy being a cowboy and a coach. It’s all contact, full on all the time.”

When the Nebraska Cornhuskers star told Cook he needed to provide more context, he said that was enough. However, it seems that the mystery of the black eye has been solved and has more to do with his livestock and his horses than anything else.
