The severe storm outlook has part of Michigan focused on Halloween

A strong cold front will bring a series of thunderstorms on Halloween. The storms will be the result of record heat being displaced by much cooler air.

The collision of hot and cool air masses on Halloween afternoon will produce this narrow line of thunderstorms. We’re talking about a solid rainy spell in northern Lower Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. However, the area of potential severe weather in southern Michigan will see only intermittent showers and half-hourly thunderstorms within the thunderstorms.

This means that, like many severe thunderstorms in Michigan, Halloween thunderstorms can be intense but fast.

Here is the severe thunderstorm forecast from the Storm Prediction Center. This is not expected to be a classic widespread severe weather situation. This writing is just a warning of fast thunderstorms that could catch you by surprise on an outdoor project.

The first forecast is the general forecast for any type of severe weather. Non-severe storms are expected in the light green shaded area of most of Michigan.

The strongest thunderstorms are expected to move through Lower Michigan during the second half of tomorrow afternoon. Here is the radar forecast. It doesn’t seem like much, but remember that these storms should be fast and powerful.
