The USA finally has a real football coach: Mauricio Pochettino only needed one (1) game to create the saddest and saddest USMNT statistics

Do you want to talk about sad statistics? This here it is. Yes, yes, I am aware of how difficult it is to win on the road, especially CONCACAF, where things get weird. But one win in almost six years as a coach is fucking awful. I had to check everywhere to see if it was true. Sure, the United States soccer team has won more road games, but we haven’t. Lots of draws, definitely, not many wins.

And I know most people will be panicking that a 1-0 win over Jamaica isn’t enough, even if it’s just the first leg of the home-and-home quarter-finals. But it’s a win and that’s all that matters. We got there thanks to Ricardo Pepi’s score (Pulisic assist, all he does is good things):

Matt Turner saved a penalty (all he does is basically save PKs)

Yunus Musah with a huge tackle:

Like I said, that field was filthy. That’s why it’s important to win, no matter how ugly it is. It’s Poch’s first road trip and he won. Shit, he did as much as Berhalter in almost six years on the road in CONCACAF. Now we have a 1-0 lead heading into the game in St. Louis on Monday. That’s all that matters. Like I said with this group, and what’s happening in these windows is taking care of business. Pochettino needs to figure out who will be his boys, who can secure spots for the 2026 World Cup and build from there. I thought Tessman was great in his start. Pepi argues for the clear starting position with Balogun injured.

PS: Some more sad statistics that are no longer sad because we have a competent coach
