Shaket sensation

In recent years, we’ve come to appreciate the shirt jacket (also known as a shacket) more and more, not only for its styling, but also for its versatility in layering.

If it’s just a little chilly, you can throw one over henley and be good to go. When the temperature starts to drop, you can wear a sweater, a denim shirt and/or a flannel underneath to ward off the cold.

This new shacket interpretation from the California-based brand with the Secratariat-inspired name goes from general to specific and adds a technical wrinkle: It’s made from 14-ounce Scottish waxed cotton canvas.

Regular GP readers know that this material has an ancient history – dating back to when sailors discovered that rubbing linseed into sailcloth made it more water-repellent, and later they started carving jackets out of the stuff.
