The Bruins return home from a three-game Western Conference road trip to take on the Dallas Stars on Thursday night.

Boston went 1-1-1 on the trip and fell to 3-3-1 overall after a 4-0 loss in Nashville, where the Predators had skated to a franchise-worst 0-5 start.

Bruins coach Jim Montgomery opted for a near-complete shakeup of his lines against Nashville, leaving just the fourth line of John Beecher, Mark Kastelic and Cole Koepke together during the hot start. Still, the Bruins were eliminated for the first time this season and have now been held to just one goal in their past two games.

Dallas has dropped two of three following a four-game win streak to start the season, including falling short of a comeback in a 4-2 loss Tuesday at Buffalo.

On an 0-for-3 night in Buffalo, they were held without a shot on goal over two first-period advantages. … Dallas blocked 11 fewer shots than Buffalo (27-16) on Tuesday. … Star netminder Jake Oettinger, a Boston University alum, made 21 saves on Tuesday. He has a .941 save percentage and is tied for sixth in the NHL this season, behind fellow Dallas goaltender Casey DeSmith.
