Tropical Storm Rafael could quickly intensify in the Caribbean

Tropical Storm Rafael continues to strengthen and remains on track to become a hurricane as parts of the Caribbean prepare to be hit by damaging hurricane force wind, floods rain and a dangerous one storm surge.

The National Hurricane Center said Rafael was in a atmospheric And oceanic environment that is “reasonably conducive to reinforcement.” Moreover, forecasters say so computer prediction models showing that there is a “significant chance” that Rafael could do that intensify quickly as it approaches the Cayman Islands and Cuba.

Severe weather is hitting parts of the central US ahead of Election Day

A multi-day severe weather threat continued across the central US on Monday, battering the region with thunderstorms that brought damaging winds, large hail and reports of tornadoes.

There were reports of golf ball-sized hail in Texas and homes damaged by powerful winds in Oklahoma on Monday, and evacuations were ordered in parts of Missouri due to flooding.

The severe weather threat now shifts to the Mississippi Valley and Midwest on Tuesday, and concerns are also growing that flooding could occur in some low-lying areas.

A volcano outbreak broke out in Indonesia late on Sunday, killing at least ten people. The Lewotobi Laki-Laki volcano on the island of Flores erupted just before midnight local time, according to the Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Management (PVMBG).

Officials say search and rescue operations continue and several villages near the volcano have been evacuated due to the eruption.
