Today NYT Connections hints and answers emerge immediately.

Play connections

Connections is a free, popular New York Times daily word game. Every day you get a new puzzle at midnight. You can play on the NYT website or Games app.

You will be shown a grid of 16 words. Your job is to divide them into four groups of four by discovering the connections between them. The groups can be things like clickable items, names for study participants, or words preceded by a body part.

There is only one solution to each puzzle, and you have to be careful when it comes to words that fit into more than one category. You can play the words in any order so you might see the connections between them.

Each group has a color code. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the most difficult. The purple group often uses puns.

Select four words that you think go together and press Send. If you make a guess and you’re wrong, you lose a life. When you’re close to the right group, you might see a message saying you’re just one word away from the right group, but you still need to figure out which one to swap.

If you make four mistakes, the game is over. Let’s make sure this doesn’t happen with some tips and, if you’re really struggling, today’s information Connections answers. As with Word and other similar games, it’s easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chats.

When I saw KINDLE I was pretty sure about the purple group and it worked. Oddly enough, Amazon just announced some new Kindles, including a version with a color screen that I’m considering purchasing.

Anyway, the yellow colors were pretty obvious. I struggled a bit with the green and blue shades, as I wasn’t entirely sure that CREDIT, CARD and PLASTIC would be considered different methods of payment; they could all refer to the same thing. But I tried my luck with the greens first and was successful.

Sorry to those of you caught by the poker herring of FLOP, TURN, RIVER and CARD.

PS Today let’s go for an all-time great horror movie. Scream is both an excellent deconstruction of the slasher genre and a great slasher film in its own right. It plays with tropes while simultaneously embracing them with clever meta-humor. The original movie is still great and has a near-perfect opening scene:
