Today’s NYT Mini Crossword Clues and Answers for Saturday, November 16

If you missed Friday’s NYT Mini Crossword, you can find the answers here:

ForbesToday’s NYT Mini Crossword Puzzle Tips and Answers for Friday, November 15

The weekend is finally here and I’ve returned as your humble NYT Mini Crossword guide for the week ahead. The Saturday Crossword comes out Friday at 10pm ET, so I always jump in on Friday evenings to solve it and post this guide. For whatever reason, the Sunday Crossword appears on Saturdays at 6:00 PM ET, and on Mondays at 6:00 PM ET on Sundays. Anyway, let’s solve today’s problems, okay?

The NYT Mini is a smaller, faster, more digestible, bite-sized version of the larger and more challenging NYT Crossword, and unlike its bigger sibling, it’s free to play without a subscription to The New York Times. You can play it on the web or in the app, but you need the app to handle the archive.

A good tactic in crosswords is to get as much OTHER SIDE as possible first and then you’ll find that a lot of the DOWN is already done – or vice versa if the OTHER SIDE are trickier.

Although some of today’s words are quite simple, some may surprise you. Below you will find the answers. Spoilers ahead, of course. Continue for the image of today’s solved puzzle.

ABOUT

1 — Nurses, as a drink — SIPS

5 – Extreme, in Californian jargon – HELLA

6 — Seasonal reason for sneezing — POLLEN

7— Course load? – GOLF BAG

8 — Co-signatories to the Treaty — Allies

9 — Olympic clay target shooting — SKEET

10 — Scores of 3, 4, and 5, typically — PARS

DOWN

1 — Took a lot of photos on Snapchat — SELFIES

2 — “Ooookay… sure you did…” — ILLBET

3 – ‘Guilty’ and ‘not guilty’ – PLEASE

4 — Rocking out during karaoke night — SANG

5 — Scream — HOLLER

6 — Music played in a German beer garden — POLKA

7 — Crowd noise during a horror movie, maybe — GASP

Some of these were quite tricky, such as 7-Across, “Course Load”. I didn’t know that was a GOLF BAG. Others rejected me for silly reasons: I put PLEAD instead of PLEAS for 3-Down. Some I knew immediately: SKEET, POLKA, etc. Others I had to fill in, like HELLA and ILLBET. Overall, not the most challenging Saturday ever, but still tough enough. I kept pausing this one while I was multitasking, but I forgot a few times and it took 3:58 to complete.

How did you do it? Let me know TweetInstagram or Facebook.

If you also play Wordle, I write guides about that too. You can find these and all my TV guides, reviews and more here on my blog. Thanks for reading!
