Can you solve today’s sentence?

I opened with a very lucky guess. Although I only got one yellow and one green box, the possible solutions were narrowed down to just nine, several of which I came up with. Actually, a lot of the things I could think of ended up with USTY. RUSTY, MUSTY, WILD, BUSTY, GUSTY etc. etc. I also came up with GUSTO, and thought I would first exclude the ‘G’ in two words. Fortunately, at this point I only had one word left: GUSTY for the win (d)!

Competitive Wordle Score

I get 1 point for guessing in three tries and promptly lose this point as the Wordle Bot guessed in only two tries today. Drat!

How to Play Competitive Wordle

  • Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent, you get 1 point. In case of a draw you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or play for a new score every day.
  • Friday is 2XP, which means you double your points: positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running tally or just play day by day. Enjoy!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word windy comes from the noun gust of windwhich refers to a sudden, strong gust of wind. Gust of wind probably derived from the Old Norse word gust of windmeaning ‘a gust of cold wind’ or ‘a gust of wind’. The suffix -j is used to form adjectives, meaning ‘full of’ or ‘characterized by’ windy essentially means ‘full of gusts of wind’ or ‘characterized by sudden, strong winds’. The word entered English in the 16th century.
