Happy Turkey Day! Thanksgiving is finally here and I hope you’re all doing something fun, whether that’s having a feast with friends or family or spending a day relaxing and enjoying your favorite hobby.

Yesterday was Wordle Wednesday and as always I gave you lovely Wordlers a riddle to solve. Today I give you the answer. Here was the riddle:

I’m heavy going forward, but not backwards.

What am I?

The answer: one tons. Forwards a ton is very heavy, backwards it is “not”.

Okay, Wordle time!

Word analysis

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot here.

So close and yet so far. I almost got this in three, but I didn’t even think about the second option. SPOUT wasn’t a great opener, but once I threw CRANE into the second guess, I was down to two words to choose from. I was so sure it was just the one, CLOCK, that I was quite dismayed when the ‘L’ turned gray. CHOCK for the win. I guess we can put that down to bad luck.

Competitive Wordle Score

Just like yesterday, I get 0 points for guessing in four and -1 for losing to the Bot, who made three attempts. It’s la vie.

How to Play Competitive Wordle

  • Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent, you get 1 point. In case of a draw you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or play for a new score every day.
  • Friday is 2XP, which means you double your points: positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running tally or just play day by day. Enjoy!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word “block” probably comes from Old French shocker (“to strike”) and Old Norse kaka (“wedges”). It entered Middle English to describe a block or wedge used to stop motion, especially of wheels. The feeling of securing or stopping emerged from these roots.
