Tom Brady is in line to groom a franchise QB, but not with the Patriots

Tom Brady may be in the New England Patriots Hall of Fame. But now he’s a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.

Soon, Brady could have an immediate impact on the team, especially when it comes to the team’s quarterback situation.

Last week, Raiders owner Mark Davis was asked what role Brady will play with the organization. Davis said defining a role at this point comes down to “putting the cart before the horse.”

Still, Davis said it was “exciting” to have Brady with the Raiders — and that the future Hall of Famer could play a key role in shaping the future of the quarterback position.

“Although Tom cannot play, I believe he can help us select a quarterback in the future and possibly coach him as well.”

The Raiders are currently in a state of quarterback purgatory. The team signed veteran Gardner Minshew as a free agent this year to compete with second-year quarterback Aidan O’Connell.

Minshew was named the starter to open the season before coming to the bench for O’Connell earlier this month. That was until O’Connell broke his thumb last week, putting Minshew back behind center. The Raiders have since signed quarterback Desmond Ridder to provide depth.

As things stand right now, the Raiders’ quarterback of the future does not appear to be on the roster at the moment. At 2-5, Las Vegas could be in a position to land one of the top quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft — and lean on Brady to help evaluate them.

Even if the Raiders don’t draft a quarterback, Brady still represents a great selling point for potential free agents considering Las Vegas in free agency.
