Tom Holland will star in Christopher Nolan’s latest feature film, joining Matt Damon in this top-secret venture.

Nolan wrote the script and is directing the project, which Universal Pictures will distribute. The studio has set a release date for July 17, 2026.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but sources say the setting is not the present (although it’s unclear if it’s set in the past or future).

Nolan produces alongside producing partner and wife Emma Thomas for their Syncopy banner.

The new feature reunites Nolan with the studio that made his drama Oppenheimer and brought him to his first Oscars. He won the Best Director award and received a Best Picture award as a producer of the film, which grossed a whopping $976 million worldwide.

Oppenheimer marked the filmmaker’s first time working with Universal, a relationship that emerged after Nolan publicly parted ways with his longtime house Warner Bros. in late 2020. Oppenheimer was picked up by Universal in an open auction, this new project went straight to the studio according to sources.

And although Damon is part of the Nolan player ensemble, for which he collaborated with the filmmaker Oppenheimer and 2014 Interstellarthis will be the first time in the Netherlands with the acclaimed director.

The entry into the Netherlands may have some ripple effects. Sources say the actor will also be juggling this project next year Spider Man 4with a likely stop ahead Avengers: Doomsday. Spider Man 4 was so delayed that Dutch co-star Zendaya will now film Dune 3 early 2026 instead of next year.
