The Nigerian Army says its troops have foiled an oil theft worth N846 million in the South-South region.

This is stated in a statement by the Director of Defense, Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba.

According to Buba, the troops also neutralized 171 terrorists and arrested 302 others.

He added that a total of 25 oil theft perpetrators have been arrested and 134 kidnapped hostages have been rescued.

According to the statement, the forces seized 84 weapons and 1,499 rounds of ammunition, consisting of one PKT rifle, one G3 rifle, 3 AK-49 rifles, 44 AK-47 rifles, 10 fake rifles, 18 Danish rifles, 10 pump-action rifles, 4 locally made pistols, 18 AK-47 magazines, 2 FN magazines, one smoke grenade and one bandolier.

Other items recovered include 843 rounds of 7.62mm Special Ammunition, 506 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 60 rounds of 7.62x54mm rimmed bullets, 90 live rounds, 5 baofeng radios, 11 vehicles, 46 motorcycles, 4 bicycles, 52 mobile phones, machetes and a sum of N126,285.00 only.
