While the Dallas Cowboys couldn’t embarrass themselves on the field in Week 7, it still wasn’t a banner week for America’s Team.

It started with Jerry Jones’ tantrum on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas and culminated in Amari Cooper being traded to Buffalo for more (much more) than what the Cowboys got for him three years ago.

To make matters worse, the Commanders and Eagles both won in big fashion, moving Dallas further up the NFC East pecking order. However, it wasn’t until Monday night that Cowboys fans experienced the most humiliating moment of the week.

It’s now clear that the front office made a mistake by not signing Derrick Henry this offseason. Henry is in the midst of another incredible season, running past the Buccaneers in the Ravens’ 41-31 victory Monday night football.

Henry’s stellar play prompted Cowboys legend and ESPN color analyst Troy Aikman to take an indirect shot at his former team.

Ouch.

This was the second time in several days that Aikman openly mocked the Cowboys. The Hall of Fame quarterback appeared on 96.7 The Ticket in Dallas last week and eviscerated Dallas’ wide receivers, calling into question their route running and overall effort.

The Derrick Henry-Cowboys story may be exaggerated, but it is still extremely relevant. The Cowboys have the NFL’s worst rushing attack and Henry leads the league with 872 rushing yards, which is 202 more than the next running back. He is on track to claim his third rushing crown.

Henry’s dominance doesn’t stop there. He is first in rushing for first downs, yards per carry and yards after contact, as well as top five in missed tackles, forced and explosive runs. He’s 30 years old and is on pace for 2,100 rushing yards.

Make no mistake: Henry wouldn’t report the same numbers to Dallas. Playing with Lamar Jackson is a cheat code for RBs and Mike McCarthy’s scheme isn’t a good fit for King Henry, but the Cowboys would at least have a top-10 rushing attack with Henry behind Dak Prescott.

For Aikman to use his platform to mock the Cowboys suggests he is sick of what the team has become – both in terms of their on-field product and their negligent front office.

If one of the franchise’s most iconic players openly tears the team apart, doesn’t send a message to the owner, then nothing will.
