Trump chooses former national intelligence operative John Ratcliffe as CIA director

President-elect Donald Trump announced Tuesday evening that John Ratcliffe, a former Texas congressman and director of national intelligence, would return to the executive branch as director of the Central Intelligence Agency.

“From exposing a fake Russian conspiracy as a campaign operation for Clinton to catching the FBI’s abuse of civil liberties in the FISA court, John Ratcliffe has always been a fighter for truth and honesty with the American public.

When 51 intelligence officials lied on Hunter Biden’s laptop, there was one, John Ratcliffe, who told the truth to the American people,” Trump, 78, said in a statement.

Ratcliffe, 59, represented the Dallas suburbs for more than five years before Trump asked him to oversee the US intelligence services in May 2020.
