Tulsa fire extinguishes fire in west Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa Fire Department was extinguishing a fire in west Tulsa at the Axel Royal Oil & Grease plant.

The company told us the fire started after petroleum products caught fire in a tank farm. However, the cause is still unknown.

TFD’s Andy Little told us they arrived on scene just before 10 a.m., when virtually all of Green Country could see that massive trail of smoke.

No injuries were reported and everyone in the area was evacuated, including some adjacent buildings.

Crews were able to control the flames and keep the smoke plume at a much lower level.

The nearby Holly Refinery also sent firefighters to the blaze with a truckload of fire retardant foam.

Little said the Holly refinery crew will operate under the TFD hazmat team as Holly has a large stockpile of foam.

We are still waiting for TFD to officially say the fire is under control.
