Two arrested near a popular creek in Sherman for allegedly stealing copper

SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) – Two people have been arrested in Sherman for allegedly trying to steal copper near a popular fossil hunting destination.

According to the Sherman Police Department, officers were notified of suspicious activity at Post Oak Creek near Travis Street on Sunday.

When officers arrived, they found and detained Kelly Douglass and Eric Wolfenbarger.

SPD said the two had conflicting stories about their activities and that they had tools commonly used for copper theft.

Both Douglass and Wolfenbarger were arrested for theft of material copper.
