Tyler Lockett reaches 8,000 receiving yards, shows he’s still a reliable receiver

“Tyler Lockett, again, one of my best friends and one of the best players in this game. He’s so clutch. Just think of all the catches he’s made in clutch situations. Time after time, week after week, he’s the one that’s going to show up. I was talking to Grubb about it this week. Just wait until you see Lockett on game day. He’s a completely different player. He’s out there battling with D-linemen and doing all those things. That big third down catch really decided the game for us, that last one. That’s who he is and that’s why we love him. We’re going to continue to rely on him and he’s always going to show up in those moments.”

And he adds: “That’s who he is. Great players make great plays in great games. I remember hearing that when I was a kid. Tyler Lockett is the epitome of that. Every time there’s a play to be made, he’s going to make the game.”

Lockett said it was exciting that despite not playing in pre-season he was still able to play the match as he did on Sunday.

“It’s been fun, man,” Lockett said. “Geno trusts all of us receivers. When our name is called, he expects us to make the play. There’s going to be times where you go a quarter or two without a catch and we’ve learned how to play through a lot of that. We’ve learned how to play together, we’ve learned how to support each other and what we need to do to help this team.”
