Tyreek Hill is playing with a torn wrist ligament and says it worsened during the early-season detention

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill told ESPN’s Lisa Salters that he has a torn ligament in his left wrist ahead of Monday night’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Hill did not participate in team practices on Friday and Saturday, but was not listed on the injury report on Thursday. He was seen on the field Monday night with tape on both wrists during pre-game warmups.

Hill told Salters that the wrist started bothering him during training camp and was aggravated during his police arrest before the team’s season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Initial MRIs showed a torn ligament in the wrist, something he did not reveal on Monday because “he didn’t know how to feel, what to do or how to deal with the injury” due to the fact that he so rarely was injured during the operation. his career, Salters reported.

Dolphins’ Hill on pre-game detention: ‘Still trying to get it all together’

Hill, 30, remains one of the most important players for the Dolphins. His 446 receiving yards, 13.1 yards per reception and 56 targets entering Monday led all Miami players, while his 34 receptions led all Miami wide receivers through eight games. Despite only playing in his third season with the Dolphins, Hill’s 3,955 receiving yards and 272 receptions already rank 10th and 13th in Dolphins franchise history.

As the Dolphins’ leading receiver the past three seasons, Hill’s numbers have taken a hit with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa missing four games. Hill’s 8.0 yards per target and 8.0 yards before contact per reception in 2024 are both his lowest marks since his final season with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2021, while his average depth of target at 12.7 is the highest since 2020 .Hill’s only drop through the season’s first eight games is also his fewest in that span since 2020.
