UFC 307 Results: Bonus Winners & Highlights

Alex Pereira successfully defended his UFC light heavyweight title on Saturday night in the main event of UFC 307 at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Pereira scored a fourth-round KO victory over a contest, but ultimately outscored Khalil Rountree Jr. While Rountree had his moments – even scoring a knockdown in the second round – Pereira’s huge third round set the stage for the destructive finish in the fourth.

Here’s a look at the finish.

The victory gave Pereira his third successful defense of the light heavyweight title, and both fighters’ performances earned the Fight of the Night bonus.

In the co-main event, Julianna Pena regained the UFC women’s bantamweight title with a razor-thin split-decision victory over Raquel Pennington. I scored the fight 48-47 in favor of Pena, and two of the three judges agreed.

Here’s a look at all the results from UFC 307 and highlights from the other finishes on the card.

All fighters who have earned performance bonuses will have a trophy icon next to their name below.

UFC 307 Pay-Per-View Card Results

  • (c) Alex Pereira – 🏆 final Khalil Rountree Jr. – 🏆 via TKO in Round 4 – Pereira retains the UFC light heavyweight championship. The highlight is above. This fight won the Fight of the Night bonus.
  • Julianna Peña def. (c) Raquel Pennington via split decision (29-28×2, 28-29) – Pena wins the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship
  • Mario Bautista def. Jose Aldo via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
  • Roman Dolidze def. Kevin Holland via TKO at 5:00 of round 1 (Netherlands was injured in the first round and could not continue)

Holland is as strong as they come, so while it was difficult to watch his injury occur, he has earned the respect of his peers and the MMA community. He must have been injured seriously enough to stop the fight if he couldn’t continue.

Here is the order in which the injury occurred.

  • Kayla Harrison def. Ketlen Vieira via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)

UFC 307 Preliminary Card Results

  • Joaquin Buckley – 🏆def. Stephen Thompson via KO at 2:17 of Round 3 – Performance of the Night

Thompson’s style began to cause Buckley some problems. Although Buckley was able to secure takedowns, he had no control over the veteran point fighter.

Finally, Buckley decides to increase his aggression and uses his explosiveness to close the distance. This huge right hand was the result and led to the KO win and the performance bonus.

  • Iasmin Lucindo def. Marina Rodriguez via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
  • Alexander Hernández def. Austin Hubbard via split decision (27-30, 29-28, 29-28)
  • Cesar Almeida def. Ihor Potieria via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 30-27)

UFC 307 Early Preliminary Card Results

  • Ryan Spann – 🏆 final Ovince Saint Preux via Submission at 1:35 of Round 1 (Guillotine) – Performance of the Night

Spann needed this win in the worst way.

He was coming off a three-fight losing streak, but a right hand hurt Saint Preux, opening the guillotine that ended the fight and earned Spann the performance bonus.

  • Tecia Pennington defeated Carla Esparza via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)
  • Court McGee def. Tim Means via submission at 3:19 of round 1 (Rear-Naked Choke)

In the opening fight, local favorite and UFC veteran Court McGee Means dominated, securing the win with a rear naked choke finish. I’m not sure how long we’ll see either of these mainstays in the UFC.
