This is the UFC Vegas 98 live blog for Brandon Royval vs. Tatsuro Taira, the flyweight main event this Saturday in Las Vegas.

Royval challenged 125-pound champion Alexandre Pantoja for the title last December. Royval fell short in his bid for flyweight gold, losing a unanimous decision, but he bounced back with a split-decision victory over Brandon Moreno at UFC Mexico earlier this year. That win moved Royval to No. 1 in the UFC flyweight rankings, keeping him in the title conversation, and a win over the rising prospect could earn him another shot at gold.

One of the top prospects in all of MMA, Taira is only 24 years old and is already one of the best flyweights in the world. Going 6-0 since joining the UFC in 2022, Taira last defeated former title challenger Alex Perez in June and now hopes to bolster his own title bid with a win over another former title challenger.
