Update on Chris Hilton’s final injury status against USC

Why LSU Could Be College Football’s Next Dynasty

LSU fans were curious about the status of the recipient Chris Hilton prior to their confrontation with the USC Trojans on Sunday night. A little over an hour before kickoff, LSU fans got their answer, and unfortunately, it wasn’t a good one.

Hilton was not dressed in pregame warmups and will not be available. Expect receiver Kyle Parker to start in his place for the Tigers, according to Wilson Alexander of The Advocate.

Hilton has struggled with injuries in recent seasons, but has shown explosive potential when healthy. He was questionable entering the game against USC, so it’s not a huge surprise that he’ll be out Sunday night. That said, Tiger fans are certainly hoping he stays healthy and can be a productive weapon in 2024.

LSU had Hilton listed as a starter for Sunday’s game on the depth chart they dropped a few hours before the game, so he was a late scratch. Over the past two years with the Tigers, he has hauled in 22 catches for 415 yards and three touchdowns. His career high for receiving yards in a single game is 81, coming against Kansas State in the 2022 Texas Bowl.

When healthy, Hilton is one of the fastest players in college football and is expected to be a key weapon in the LSU passing attack. This is his fourth year in Baton Rouge.

A dynamic athlete fresh out of high school, Hilton was a two-sport standout at Zachary High School (Zachary, Louisiana). As a junior in 2019, Hilton hauled in 43 catches for 846 yards and 11 touchdowns. As a sophomore, he caught a screen pass and carried it 80 yards for a game-winning touchdown in Zachary’s 2018 5A state title victory over West Monroe. As a senior in track, he claimed the 5A state title in both the 400 meters and the high jump. Hilton also won the state championship in indoor track as a sophomore and freshman.
