The Utah Jazz fought hard against the San Antonio Spurs, but it wasn’t enough as they fell 126-120.

While the Jazz rested several players, including Lauri Markkanen, Keyonte George, Jordan Clarkson, Patty Mills and John Collins, the youth movement was on full display. Isaiah Collier got the start and had some impressive moments on offense. Unfortunately, Collier had to leave the match with a hamstring injury and did not return.

It’s not clear what the extent of the injury is, but Utah is already starting to deal with the injury bug.

The other young player who showed real flashes tonight was Cody Williams, who had one of the Jazz’s best nights. Williams had 17 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists and did so while going 6/10 from the field and ³⁄₄ of three. If Williams can put up these kinds of numbers consistently, the Jazz will once again have a pick on their hands.

Collin Sexton also came up huge in this one, with Collier leading the charge the rest of the way. Sexton went 8/16 from the field and 4/9 from three with 24 points and 8 assists. It’s a great performance from Sexton on the offensive end, showing that he can be a real force offensively no matter who else is on the floor. This season will be very interesting to see what the Jazz do with Sexton. He was part of a lot of trade rumors last season and if other teams ask, he could bring some nice picks to the Jazz in return. If the Jazz want him as part of the future, they can do that. Sexton has been a great part of the team and has shown great character and leadership. It’s a win-win for the Jazz no matter what they decide.

A tough loss for the Jazz, who are learning more and more about their young players. The development is already visible and you can see that this season’s minutes will be so much more valuable than whatever last season was. It’s nice to see the Jazz have a pretty clear direction, let’s hope they’re clear about moving toward a top pick in a loaded 2025 draft.
