BALLERUP (ANP) – Hetty van de Wouw has reached the semi-finals of the sprint tournament at the Track Cycling World Championships in Denmark. The sprinter from Kaatsheuvel won the third and decisive heat against the British Katy Marchant in the quarter-finals.

Van de Wouw was fourth in the sprint at the Paris Olympics, and she had previously taken silver in the keirin. She will be in action on that part on Sunday.

The semi-finals and final are Friday. Olympic champion Ellesse Andrews from New Zealand is missing from Ballerup, as are the German top sprinters Emma Hinze and Lea Friedrich.
