Vice Presidential Candidate Tim Walz Campaigns in Reno and Las Vegas

The Minnesota governor will make stops in Reno and Las Vegas ahead of the debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.

Minnesota Governor and Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz will make a stop in Reno the day before the presidential debate.

Walz will visit Reno on Sept. 9 as part of a campaign trip to Texas, Nevada and Arizona ahead of the debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump. The presidential debate — the first between Harris and Trump — is scheduled for 6 p.m. Pacific Standard Time and 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Sept. 10.

Walz is expected to arrive at Reno-Tahoe International Airport from Texas just before 3 p.m. He will depart later in the day after the Reno event and will speak on behalf of the Harris Victory Fund at a campaign reception in Las Vegas the following morning.

From Las Vegas, Walz will arrive in Arizona before noon, according to the campaign, to “meet political obligations in Phoenix.” The trip will mark Walz’s first visit to the Sun Belt since being named Harris’ running mate, the campaign added.

The two campaign stops in Nevada reflect its importance as a battleground state. With polls predicting a close election, Nevada is seen as one of the few swing states that could decide the election.

The race is particularly close in Nevada, where Harris leads among female voters and Trump leads among male voters, according to a New York Times/Siena College poll of swing states.

The time and location for Walz’s Reno event have not yet been announced. Interested parties can register here.
