ST. LANDRY, La. (KLFY) — Six people have been charged in connection with the 2020 killing of a 66-year-old Lawtell man, a day after what would have been the victim’s 70th birthday, the St. Landry Parish District Attorney’s Office announced Friday.

District Attorney Chad Pitre said in a press release that the following individuals have been charged with second-degree murder in Joseph Vallian:

• Leeland Valliere, the victim’s son
• Lester Johnson Jr.
• Dennis Patrick Guillory Jr.
• Dylan Jong
• Desmond Richard
• Rasheed Zachary

Pitre said Vallian was found brutally beaten while tied up in his house in an apparent robbery murder on September 15, 2020.

“Today we made progress in bringing justice to the family of this beloved gentleman while taking dangerous criminals off the streets,” Pitre said.
