Real Madrid striker Vinicius Jr will miss the Champions League match against Liverpool after a hamstring injury.

The Brazilian played all of Real Madrid’s 3-0 victory in La Liga against Leganes on Sunday.

Madrid, who are 18th in the 36-team Champions League, travel to Anfield to take on top-flight Liverpool on Wednesday.

The La Liga club named a 19-man traveling squad for the trip to Merseyside and there was no room for Vinicius Jr. after suffering “an injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg.”

Vinicius Jr. wrote on X after Madrid’s statement: “Crazy calendar. Time to recover.”

It is unlikely that Liverpool will be able to call on defender Trent Alexander-Arnold for the fifteen-time European Cup winner’s visit to Anfield.

The England right-back missed Sunday’s 3-2 win over Southampton with a hamstring injury sustained before the international break.
