Virat Kohli's dismissal off the last ball leaves Rohit Sharma shocked

NEW DELHI: India put up a remarkable fight in the second innings of the first Test against New Zealand but Virat Kohli’s dismissal on the last ball of day three shifted the momentum in favor of the visitors on Friday.
At stumps, India were at 231/3, still 125 runs behind New Zealand, after Glenn Phillips dismissed Kohli for 70 after falling behind on the last ball of the day in Bengaluru.
Kohli, who reviewed his dismissal in vain, shared a 136-run partnership with Sarfaraz Khan, who remained unbeaten on 70.

India vs New Zealand Test: Focus returns to Indian batters after a high-scoring day

Kohli’s dismissal left Indian captain Rohit Sharma completely shocked. His response put emphasis on the moment and highlighted how crucial Kohli’s wicket was for India.
With the team relying on their talisman to get them through a challenging phase, the timing of the layoff compounded the setback.
Kohli also crossed the milestone of 9,000 Test runs, becoming only the fourth Indian to achieve the feat, following in the footsteps of Sachin Tendulkar (15,921), Rahul Dravid (13,265) and Sunil Gavaskar (10,122).
Despite a shaky start, in which he needed 14 balls to score his first run, Kohli eventually settled down and hit eight fours and a six as he found his rhythm.
