Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Donald Trump on his victory in the US presidential elections.

Putin called him “courageous” and said he was impressed by Trump’s response to the first assassination attempt on him in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Putin addressed the Valdai Discussion Club in the Black Sea resort of Sochi.
