Walmart confirms that all 4,606 stores will close all day next week — and Target won’t provide any assistance

WALMART shoppers will have to find an alternative for their holiday shopping because this week more than 4,000 stores are closed for 24 hours.

The retailer continues the four-year tradition that started during the pandemic.

This Thursday, more than 4,600 stores will be closed for Thanksgiving.

The holiday falls on November 29 this year and marks the fifth year in a row that Walmart has decided to close its doors for 24 hours.

A NEW TRADITION

Normally Walmart was always open on Thanksgiving, but since the 2020 pandemic hit, bosses have given employees the full day off to celebrate the holiday with their families.

John Furner, CEO of Walmart, stated that the decision to break this tradition came from a suggestion from a Walmart employee in Texas.

“We want you to enjoy the day at home with your loved ones,” Furner said in an interview for USA Today.

The company has received overwhelming support for the Thanksgiving closure from both store employees and shoppers.

But don’t worry, the shops are only closed for the full 24 hours on Thursday.

The store will reopen the next day so you can shop Black Friday deals in time.

CHAIN CLASSES

Unfortunately, it’s bad news for anyone looking to avoid these store closures at Target.

Target will also close its doors on Thanksgiving, but will reopen early on Black Friday.

This year, many retailers are following suit and offering employees a day off.

Other chains, including Costco, Best Buy, Home Depot and Lowe’s, are also closed for Thanksgiving and will reopen Friday.

SHOPPER ALTERNATIVES

If you’re looking for a place to shop this Thanksgiving, whether it’s for last-minute holiday food items or gifts to shower loved ones with, there are still places available to shop.

Many Kroger stores will be open on Thanksgiving, although many stores will operate on reduced hours.

Whole Foods is also open limited hours if you want to grab something.

However, like Kroger, hours vary depending on store location.
