Warriors star Stephen Curry leaves the loss early to the Clippers after rolling his ankle

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry left their 112-104 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers early Sunday night after rolling his ankle.

Curry twisted his ankle twice in the second half of the game at the Chase Center in San Francisco. He left the game briefly, but returned to the field a few minutes later and seemed completely fine. But then, while trying to set a screen in the corner, Curry rolled his left ankle hard.

Curry immediately jumped in pain and limped straight from the court into the locker room.

The Warriors ruled him out a few minutes later. Details about his injury are not known, although he will undergo an MRI of his ankle on Sunday evening. Warriors coach Steve Kerr described the injury as “mild or moderate.”

Curry finished the night with 18 points, six assists and four rebounds. He shot 6 of 11 from the field and 4 of 7 from behind the arc.

The Warriors entered Sunday night’s game with a perfect 2-0 record this season. They opened the season with a 36-point loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, where Curry was just one rebound away from a triple-double, and then beat the Utah Jazz by 41 points on Friday.

The Clippers led almost all the way on Sunday night and picked up their eight-point win. James Harden dropped 23 points and 11 assists to lead the team, and Ivica Zubac finished with 23 points and 17 rebounds. Norman Powell also added 20 points. The Clippers are now 2-1 on the year, with their only loss coming in overtime against the Phoenix Suns in their season opener.

Andrew Wiggins led the Warriors with 29 points, and Jonathan Kuminga added 12 points and five rebounds. Kevon Looney was the only other Warriors player to hit double figures after adding 10 points and 11 rebounds off the bench.

The Warriors will next meet with the New Orleans Pelicans in back-to-back matchups starting Tuesday night.
